Scotland pacer Brad Wheal has retired from professional cricket at the age of 30, saying his body can no longer cope with the demands of fast bowling after a run of serious injuries.
Wheal made his Scotland debut against Hong Kong in 2016 and went on to play 44 matches across ODIs and T20Is, taking 51 wickets. He played in four Men's T20 World Cups, the latest co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka earlier this year, and had a key role in Scotland's wins over Bangladesh in 2021 and West Indies in 2022.
Wheal also played 131 matches for Hampshire across formats. He won the Royal London One-Day Cup in 2018 and the Vitality Blast in 2022.
